Aberdare National Park & Coffee Farm Delights

Morning (6:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Aberdare National Park Adventure

• Early Start: Depart from your Nairobi hotel/residence at 6:00 AM to maximize your time in the park. The drive to the Aberdare National Park gate takes approximately 3 hours, depending on traffic.

• Scenic Drive: Enjoy the scenic journey through the Kenyan countryside, passing through farmlands and local villages, offering glimpses into rural life.

• Aberdare Exploration: Upon arrival at the park gate, embark on a game drive within the Aberdare National Park. This unique park is known for its montane forest ecosystem, diverse wildlife, and stunning views.

• Wildlife Spotting: Look out for a variety of animals, including elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos (though they are elusive), leopards (very rare and primarily nocturnal), various monkey species (like Colobus and Sykes' monkeys), and a plethora of bird species.  The park is also home to the elusive bongo antelope.

• Waterhole Observation: Many lodges in the Aberdares have floodlit waterholes, offering excellent opportunities for nighttime game viewing (though this is a day trip, you can inquire about daytime viewing possibilities at the Ark or Treetops if you're interested in a future overnight trip).

•  Lunch: Enjoy a lunch at the Aberdare Contry Club amidst the beautiful scenery.

Afternoon (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Coffee Farm Experience

• Journey to Coffee Farm: After your game drive, depart from Aberdare and drive to a nearby coffee farm (approximately 1-2 hour drive, depending on the farm's location).  Several farms are located near the park.

• Coffee Tour: Upon arrival at the coffee farm, you'll be greeted with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Take a guided tour of the farm, learning about the coffee-making process from bean to cup.  This will likely include:The Coffee Plantations: Seeing how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed.
  The Processing Stages: Understanding the steps involved in washing, pulping, drying, and sorting the coffee beans.
  The Roasting Process: Observing how the beans are roasted to perfection, bringing out their unique flavors.
  Coffee Tasting: Enjoy a coffee tasting session, sampling different blends and learning about the nuances of each.
  

• Optional Activities: Some farms may offer additional activities, such as nature walks, cultural experiences, or the opportunity to purchase freshly roasted coffee beans.

Evening (5:00 PM onwards): Return to Nairobi

• Departure: Depart from the coffee farm and begin your drive back to Nairobi.

• Arrival: Arrive back in Nairobi in the evening, filled with memories of your Aberdare wildlife adventure and your coffee farm experience.
